Dealing with Panic Attacks

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

If you suffered for very long from panic attacks or anxiety attacks then you know what the experience has cost you. Not only do you suffer from these strange attacks that scare the hell out of you each and every day and night, but you also suffer from the side effect, which is the lack of understanding from the people around you, and usually makes the problem much more difficult to bear.

Panic attacks can make a sufferer fear their own body. They fear another attack, and that also helps to bring the attacks on. And once the attack takes hold, they fear they are going to die. It’s a vicious cycle of a very real physical condition. Your heart races, you become short of breath, you become scared and nervous and you don’t know what to do.

The unfortunate part is, panic attacks are mere excuses in many people’s minds. Somehow these people have been given the authority to rule over scientific fact and claim the attacks are just a way for someone to get attention or sympathy. Obviously, they’ve never really experienced one or they would be singing a different tune.

This ignorant view of this condition has lead sufferers to become more isolated and more secretive about what is happening to them. They fear people will label them as crazy or unable to do their job, or untrusting, etc. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Those that truly suffer from this condition have done nothing to bring on the condition or the side effects. It is a real physical condition that remains largely misunderstood.

Biology Causes Anxiety Attacks

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Panic and anxiety attacks have a biological role in each and every one of us. Most people can suppress this role to the point where there are no issues; however, some people continue to express this biological role in the form of an attack. To understand the biological role you have to understand the conditions in which humans lives under going back hundreds and hundreds of years.

Humans evolved with the commonly called the “fight or flight” ability. Fight or flight is the ability of the body to focus a rapid increase of adrenalin to either fighting an enemy for survival, or to outrun a dangerous situation. The task of fighting or running effectively worked off the adrenalin and help the person live another day.

In today’s world, we all still have the fight or flight ability inside us. However, not too many of us are faced with life and death situations each day where we can use it effectively. Instead, our biggest fears are now perhaps public speaking, or a final exam, as opposed to fighting in a war or running from something that is trying to hurt you.

In short, we are still experiencing the adrenaline rush, but now we have to sit quietly while it is happening to us. Theirs is no running or fighting, yet the same levels of adrenaline could be hitting our systems. Most people can handle the adrenaline with some simple nervousness as a side effect; however, some people go into a full-blown anxiety attack.

Panic and Anxiety Disorder - What It Is and How to Deal with It

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

If you suffer from panic attacks you know that they are very scary experiences. These attacks come on strong and leave the sufferer with extremely strong feelings of fear and nervousness. And that is just what panic attack disorder is – it’s the body’s response to anxiety and stress with fear and nervousness. However, the fear response is typically out of proportion to the normal fear response to the given situation.

So how do we deal with panic anxiety disorder?

The most popular ways of dealing with panic and anxiety disorder has to do with either taking medications or therapy session. The medications that are typically prescribed are from the categories of: anti-depression, anti-anxiety and heart control.

The anti-depression and anti-anxiety medications aim to lower the body’s depression and anxiety levels, which should also lower the chances of having an attack.

The heart control medication focuses on controlling the heart rate and keeping it within normal limits. During panic and anxiety attacks the sufferer will typically have a very elevated heart rate.

The medications are typically a long term treatment option.

Therapy sessions usually involve working with a mental health professional to try and isolate the cause of the anxiety which leads to panic attacks.

The treatments above are some of the most popular treatments for panic attacks. However, there is now a natural treatment that is getting a lot of attention. It’s called Panic Away, and it has claimed to have already helped over 27,000 people get rid of their panic attacks.
